Getting Ahead in Business By Mastering Sales

I want to ask you an honest question.

Is your business where you want it to be?

Truly?

Is it not just paying the bills… but also providing the lifestyle that you know its capable of?

I spoke to someone recently and they were frustrated by the fact that they’re struggling in a construction market that’s booming.

For me… for my team… these last few years have been amazing.

For others, it’s a a struggle.  And within a few minutes of speaking with him, I knew exactly what the problem was.

Sales.

He wasn’t good at sales.  He hadn’t spent time to learn and master sales.  He’d never done sales training.  And he didn’t truly believe that sales was the most important part of his business.

Now, I’ve had lots of contractors argue with me about this over the years.

Saying things like “No, the most important thing is quality of work” or “the most important thing is customer satisfaction.”

Those things matter. And they should be tracked and managed in your business.

That said, sales is the most important factor in terms of your ability to grow your business.

Think about it – which will help you make more money… a 5% higher customer satisfaction?   Or a 5 % higher closing rate?

The answer is sales.  By a long shot.

For some reason though… most trades people don’t see it as a skill to master.

They’ve spent years mastering their craft.  Years mastering their process.  And almost 0 time learning to master sales.

Add to that, they’ve spent almost 0 time learning to master their business…. it’s the same issue.

So, if your business isn’t where you want it to be at — I challenge you to shift your mindset.

Think about sales the same way you’d think about your trade.  A skill to master.

And then figure out how to master it.

What’s stopping you?  Reply back and let me know.  I’ll see if I can help.
